How does CrowdRiff determine if a rights request is approved?

CrowdRiff uses AI to evaluate both your rights request and the asset owner’s response. It doesn’t just look for keywords—it reads the full conversation to understand whether you’ve been clearly granted permission to use the content.

How accurate is the AI?

The AI is highly accurate—around 99%. That said, it’s always a good idea to review comment threads occasionally, especially if the user:

  • Offers additional context (e.g., “Let’s discuss a partnership”)

  • Sets conditions that could change a “no” into a “yes”

What is retroactive rights approval?

The AI system went live on January 31, 2025. Before that, approvals were based on a list of positive keywords.

To help you get the most out of the new system, CrowdRiff automatically re-analyzed responses from the past 60 days using the updated AI model. As a result, you may notice more assets now marked as rights-approved.

Why did the approval date on some assets change?

If you manually approved assets between December 2, 2024 and January 31, 2025, you might see their approval date updated to January 30 or 31. This is simply due to the AI reprocessing.
