How do I track usage rights requests?

Track every rights request in one table: see who requested, when, and whether it's approved, so you know which assets are cleared for use.

How do I find the Usage Rights page?

In the left navigation menu, go to UGC > Usage Rights.

What can I see on the Usage Rights page?

The page shows a table of all your rights requests, including:

  • The requester's name

  • Request from (the social account you used to request)

  • Date of request

  • Approval status and approval date

How do I search or filter my rights requests?

Use the search bar or click the filter icon to narrow your results by asset, requester, request from, or request status.

What does the usage rights status mean?

The Status column shows the current state of each rights request:

  • Requested: A rights comment has been posted on Instagram, and you're waiting for a response.

  • Approved: The asset owner responded with a clear, affirmative message granting permission to use the asset and included your social handle (@yoursocialhandle) in their reply.

If the reply is negative or unrelated, the status stays Requested.

Where can I view the licensing details for a specific asset?

Click any asset in the table to see:

  • The usage type you selected when making the request

  • The rights request comment

  • The owner's reply, if approved

Will approvals show in both classic and new platforms?

Yes. Once a request is approved in the new platform, the asset is marked as rights-approved in both the classic and new experiences.

❗Heads up: Rights requests made in the classic platform will not appear on this page.

What is usage type and why does it matter?

Usage type refers to how you plan to use the asset, such as posting, sharing, or publishing it.

You select a usage type when you submit a rights request. It helps ensure the asset is only used in the ways the owner agreed to, based on your original request.
