What can I see on the Usage Rights page?

  • A table view of all rights requests

  • The requester’s name

  • Date of request

  • Approval status and approval date

  • Filter and search tools to narrow results by asset or status

Use the search bar or click the filter icon to drill down by asset, requester, or request status.

What does the usage rights status mean?

The Status column shows the current state of each rights request:

  • Requested – A rights comment has been posted on Instagram, and you’re waiting for a response.

  • Approved – The asset owner responded with a clear, affirmative message granting permission to use the asset and included your social handle (@yoursocialhandle) in their reply.

If the reply is negative or unrelated, the status will remain Requested.

Where can I view the licensing details for a specific asset?

Click on any asset in the table to see:

  • The usage type you selected when making the request

  • The rights request comment

  • The owner’s reply, if approved

Will approvals show in both classic and new platforms?

Yes, Once a request is approved in the new platform, the asset is marked as rights-approved in both the classic and new experiences.

❗Heads up

  • Rights requests made in the classic platform will not appear on this page.

What is usage type and why does it matter?

Usage type refers to how you plan to use the asset—such as posting, sharing, or publishing it.

You select a usage type when submitting a rights request. It helps ensure the asset is only used in the ways the owner agreed to, based on your original request.
