There are two types of terms and conditions you can use with your Collector.
Simple Terms
Short-form terms serve specific purposes and work well for most audiences. At minimum, your Collector terms should:
Confirm that the person uploading the content has the rights to it
Clearly state how your organization intends to use the content
Here's an example:
*By uploading content, you agree that you have all the necessary rights and permissions to do so, and are granting 'Your Destination' permission to use this content for marketing purposes. If selected, your image will be credited to you and shared on 'Your Destination' social media channels. No monetary compensation will be provided, and selection is not guaranteed.*
More Complex Terms
A more detailed set of terms can cover your organization's full legal requirements. Some areas to consider:
Legal protection around copyright infringement, content ownership, and liabilities
User behavior standards to protect the safety and integrity of your community
Content standards to maintain quality and relevance that aligns with your brand or values
Privacy and data protection explaining how user data is collected, used, and stored
Dispute resolution to provide a framework for handling conflicts
Liabilities and indemnities clarifying that users are responsible for the content they submit and cannot hold you liable for any consequences
Here's an example:
*Photography and Copywriting Use Terms and Conditions
By submitting your Work to our website or social media platforms, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and grant "Your Destination" a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide license (with sublicense and assignment rights) to display and use your Work on "Your Destination's" social media accounts, website at www.yourwebsite.com, and marketing materials, at "Your Destination's" sole discretion. No compensation will be provided. Credit will be given to you for your Work.
By submitting your Work, you confirm:
1. That you are 18 or over
2. That the Work is wholly your own, original work and not a derivative or copy of someone else's
3. That you own full rights to license and distribute the Work, including from any third party shown in it
4. That you agree to license the Work, without compensation, to "Your Destination" for use across social media, website, and marketing materials — worldwide, in perpetuity, and irrevocably
5. That you understand the Work may be used by "Your Destination" or third parties with access to the content library
6. That the Work does not contain inappropriate, illegal, harassing, defamatory, or objectionable content
7. That you agree to indemnify and hold harmless "Your Destination" and their employees, assigns, and agents if you breach any of these Terms and Conditions*
